Senior Backend Engineer
Role Overview & Company Profile
Latin America's leading airline group, running mission-critical platforms for digital sales, check-in, and flight operations across its global network.
Leading the architectural modernization and scaling of the mission-critical passenger data platform at LATAM Airlines, Latin America’s largest aviation group. The central mandate focuses on transitioning transactional ecosystems toward a high-availability distributed architecture on Google Cloud, engineered to back global digital sales, web, mobile, and airport check-in channels with strong consistency and low latency across the region.
The technical core combines Go microservices on Kubernetes governed by strict gRPC contracts, globally distributed persistence on Cloud Spanner ensuring ACID transactional integrity across multi-country operations, real-time CDC and streaming pipelines into BigQuery for immutable auditability and historical modeling, and zero-downtime mass migration strategies safeguarding continuous passenger operations.
Key Architectural & Engineering Achievements
- • Designing and scaling distributed Go microservices on Google Cloud (GKE) governed by strict contract-first gRPC and Protocol Buffers schemas across web and mobile channels.
- • Architecting globally distributed persistence with strong consistency and ACID transactions on Google Cloud Spanner for passenger domain data across multi-country operations.
- • Building real-time Change Data Capture (CDC) and event-driven streaming pipelines with Apache Beam / Dataflow into BigQuery for immutable audit trails and historical modeling.
- • Engineering zero-downtime mass data migration and coexistence with transactional backends, applying continuous cross-system reconciliation and progressive canary rollouts with feature flags.
- • Embedding privacy governance (PII protection, automated data subject rights) and end-to-end operational resilience (SLIs/SLOs, load and chaos testing) directly into platform architecture.
